In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful

Why should we sit down to think about our Lord and religion?

1.  We are all curious to know if the sky, the earth, the solar and lunar system, the life under water, the animals, the water reserves (oceans, rivers…)and plants etc have been created by chance or is there a Creator behind all of this? If there is a Creator, then who is He? Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? When was this world created and how will it end?

Although our intellect always pushes us to find answers to all these questions, we sometimes ignore them and remain busy in our daily life and never really sit down to think about the Truth, which thus keeps us in total darkness.

2.  Imagine that you are invited by someone who you don't know and he offers you the warmest of welcomes. And provides you a very comfortable room with all the things you need, all the food you want.At this point, wouldn't you go about to find out who this generous person is so that you can thank him?

We too, through this universe, find that everything was created so that we can live in peace and comfort.  This should lead us to think about the Creator of this universe, so that we can be grateful to Him, even though He is not in need of it. However much we glorify Him, our glorifications are very little in comparison to His mercy and blessings.

3.  Suppose you have to travel for a very important work and the time is very short. You begin the journey. Half way across, you are confused and lost, you are not sure where to go now. People around you indicate to you the roads that, according to their claims, would take you to your destination quickly and safely. Will you follow their advice without any investigating and considering their claims and finding out whether they are right? Certainly not.

Know that you are on an important journey, until you meet the Lord. This journey takes you across your life to the next world (akhirat), which is eternal and where you shall receive all kinds of rewards or all kinds of punishments. However, many people in your surroundings are showing  you different ways.So wouldn't you try your best to find the best and rightest path and avoid all other routs which probably sound pretty good but eventually misguide you?

Questions for Reflection.

  1. Have we reflected on God, the universe, everything around us and the road to success or do we just blindly follow what our parents and the society have transmitted to us.
  2. Do I feel this desire from my heart to thank to One who provides me and answers my prayers?
  3. If we don't feel any spirituality in our prayers, isn't it that we pray to God without knowing Him?
