O Allah forgive us and our parents and have mercy on them, because they looked after me in my childhood.

A rationale for beginning of Shawwal 1432AH agreed by Hilal Advisory Team has been forwarded to Najaf for guidance from His Eminence. HAT will publish the statement upon receipt Insha'Allah

Marhoom Ayatullah Syed Al Khui (RA)

The following is a ruling of Marhum Ayatullah Khui.

1741. The first day of a month will not be proved by the prediction made by the astronomers. However, if a person derives full satisfaction and certitude from their findings, he should act accordingly.

Based on the above 1st Shawwal 1432AH will be on Tuesday, 30 August 2011,  For the Muqallideen of Marhum Ayatullh Khui who derive satisfaction from the calculations and predictions of astronomers.

“9th of Rabi al-Awwal is the day of Eid. It is our greatest Eid and the Eid of our followers.” (As narrated to Ahmad ibn Is-haq al-Qummi by Imam Muhammad al-Hadi (A))

9th of Rabiul Awwal marks the day when our present Imam a.s. assumed the position of Imamat in 260 AH and the perpetrators of Karbala got their just reward. The Day also reminds us about the Hijra of our Prophet (pbuh) – 1st Rabiul Awwal & The Marriage of our Prophet (pbuh) to Lady Khadija a.s. – 10th Rabiul Awwal. All in all, it is one of the greatest days in the history of Islam and a Day of happiness and joy for the lovers of Ahlul Bayt a.s. On this auspicious day I would like to wish you all Eid Mubarak.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the speakers who provided us all with spiritual nourishment over the past two months. I would also like to acknowledge donors and volunteers. The Jamaat is deeply indebted to maumineen who do everything from serving nyiaz, cleaning, clearing snow to giving financial contribution to maintaining this beautiful centre and its programs. We could not function without so dedicated people I am often surprised, and always delighted, by the sense of ownership – of real pride – that all of our maumineen take in our Jamaat.

karbala_imam_hussainIraqi authorities announced the arrest on Friday of several suspects in the deadly suicide bombings outside the holy city that have provoked criticism of the security forces for not protecting the pilgrims flocking to the shrines.
Karbala provincial councilman Shadhan al-Aboudi said Iraqi security forces raided a house in the region's southern outskirts, not far from where 56 people were killed Thursday in a triple suicide bombing at highway checkpoints. Al-Aboudi said a group of people were arrested in the raid, but he did not know exactly how many.
A Karbala police officer confirmed the arrest, adding that a car bomb was also seized in an orchard near the house. He declined to provide further details and spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

An hour earlier, a top representative of the revered cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani criticized security forces during Friday prayers in Karbala, saying that terrorists seem to remain one step ahead of the government's efforts to protect Iraq.

“To our brothers in the security forces we say: We really appreciate your efforts in protecting pilgrims, but you need to develop your tactics as the terrorists do,” said Sheik Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalaie. “It is true that there are checkpoints, but that's not enough to stop such criminal acts against millions of pilgrims.”

He called on the government to better fund and train Iraqi soldiers and police, and said intelligence forces in particular need to be bolstered to combat extremists.

Millions of Shia pilgrims are converging this weekend on Karbala, located 55 miles (90 kilometers) south of Baghdad, for rituals marking the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).

Iraqi police and soldiers lined main Baghdad roads to watch over thousands of pilgrims headed on foot to the holy city.

No group so far has claimed responsibility for the bombings.

In a statement, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani condemned the Karbala bombings that he said aimed “at provoking sedition and spreading fear and turmoil.”
